Cabinet of Curiosities is a new series from Really Well where we lift a lid on the wellness routines and favourite products of the people who inspire us.
White Sage is a digital moodboard that has amassed a strong following for its expert curation. Cosy, relaxing, minimal and delightfully offbeat are all words that spring to mind. Starting as an Instagram account, White Sage has now launched its own fully-fledged digital platform featuring interiors, travel diaries, playlists and more. We took a few moments at home, from a distance, with the woman behind it all.
Hi my name is… Xanthea.
But all my friends call me… Xanth.
I live in… Melbourne.
For work I… I’m in the midst of making my project White Sage more active, so this is currently my work! I am trained in Interior Design and am focusing on applying techniques I’ve learned on new projects.
For fun I… love to do movement based activities like yoga and ballet. I also enjoy painting and model-making. I’ve been using this time [in isolation] to explore these all further.
My wellness philosophy is… have a clear mind and listen to yourself. I’m quite good at listening to my intuition, however if I get too stressed I lose sight of this. In this I create, communicate, and feel in ways that aren’t true to me. It’s sometimes unclear in the blur of stress to recognise when this is happening, so I’m incredibly mindful of its physical manifestations. I unclench my jaw and stretch, then I check back in to see how I’m feeling.
In my bathroom cabinet you’ll find… J.Hannah nail polishes, gifted Glossier products from friends, REN skincare (LOVE), the most glorious Eve Lom cleanser, and a lot of samples from Mecca.
On my bedside table you’ll find… Lucas Pawpaw Ointment, an eye pillow from Comma Byron Bay, and my growing reading list.
The first thing I do every morning is… put on a pot of coffee and watch people and dogs play in the park across the road from my apartment.
And at night before bed I… stretch. I’m trying to get better at only using soft lights just before bed and leaving my phone in another room, so I wish I could say that!
The last book I read was… Circe by Madeline Miller.
The last movie that moved me was… C’est la Vie! It’s such a sweet film.
My favourite meal to cook is… Aglio e olio.
On the weekend I always… see friends! Usually by having brunch, going to a nice wine bar or having a boozy dinner party.
Three wellness products I can’t live without are… yoga mat (I did just buy the cutest yoga shorts from Girlfriend Collective that are pretty life-changing; maybe those too?). Pasta. And body moisturiser, applied after a morning shower. I usually use Aesop Rejuvenate Intensive Body Balm.
I support my mind/body/spirit by… moving in ways that feel good. Knowing when to rest and when to encourage myself to do more. Talking and laughing with friends.
